The Abbey Leisure Centre in Barking, United Kingdom, is taking a big step toward a greener future with a new solar energy system, as outlined in a recent SolarEdge Designer Report (dated 17 Dec 2024).
What’s in the Solar Setup?
The system uses 148 high-quality JA Solar JAM72S30-550/MR panels, which together produce a total power output of 81.4 kilowatt-peak (kWp). In simple terms, this means the panels can generate a significant amount of electricity to power the leisure centre’s facilities, like lighting, heating, and pool systems. The panels are carefully positioned at specific angles (57° and 237° azimuth with a 10° tilt) to catch as much sunlight as possible throughout the day.
Why It’s Efficient
One of the standout features of this setup is its efficiency. The report notes that the system has 0% clipped energy, which means none of the energy generated by the panels is wasted. Every bit of sunlight captured is turned into usable electricity, making the system highly effective and cost-efficient.
Why This Matters
By installing this solar system, Abbey Leisure Centre is reducing its reliance on fossil fuels, cutting down on energy costs, and lowering its carbon footprint. This project sets a great example for other community buildings, showing how renewable energy can make a real difference. It’s a win for both the planet and the local community who use the centre for swimming, fitness, and other activities.
A Bright Future
The SolarEdge report highlights the careful planning behind this project, from choosing the right panels to optimizing their placement. With this upgrade, Abbey Leisure Centre is not only providing a better experience for its visitors but also contributing to a cleaner, more sustainable Barking.
